What ever Happened to the iPod?

One year has passed, and Apple's mastermind, Steve Jobs, has yet to announce another addition to the iPod family. Following the release of the popular iPod Nano and Video, people on the street have waited way too long and they tend to get very impatient (especially here in NYC). On the other hand, the market may not need a new iPod every six months. Many say that that can ultimately ruin a company's brand and scar it for life (just like AOL). With competition thriving, Apple may just be out of new ideas. Take a look at the 1GB Nano, released in February of this year, which was just another version of it's big brothers, nothing DRASTIC. I think that Apple is just awaiting for competition to roll out with all of their anti-iPod products and just release their shocking new product and evenutally pound competition purely because they don't stand a chance. The iPod currently holds a 75% market share of the digital music industry. Maybe, Apple executives are placing all of their attention into their iTunes Media Platform and not the sole player: the iPod ... who knows? With the upcoming Zune set to release this holiday season, by Microsoft, and SanDisk, gaining some serious street credit, Apple must step up their game. What do you think is going on with Apple over in Cuppertino, CA... leave us a comment.

  1. I'm not ready to bail on Apple just yet in that market. Several other "iPod killers" have come and gone, and Apple remains largely unscathed.

Then again, I'm sort of a fanboy, so there is bias. :)
