The nation's third largest hamburger chain recently announced that they are considering a possible sale of the company. Wendy's stated that a sale is not their only option. The company is also considering a merger. “There is no specific time frame to complete the review and there are no constraints on options to be explored by the committee" states James Pickett, board chairman of Wendy's. The reason for the sale is due to poor performance. Wendy's reported last week that net profit fell 71 percent in the first quarter. Back in September, Wendy's completed the spin off, Tim Hortons and sold Baja Fresh Mexican Grill chain in November in an effort to focus on their core burger business. I think Wendy's is another restaurant defeated by fast food behemoth McDonald's. They just can't keep up with the changing times... their store signs even state "old fashion hamburgers". A sale just might be the best move for the restaurant.
