WalMart's $2Million Nightmare

WalMart has fallen into a trap once again. this public relations escapade involves a female pharmacist who was awarded $2Milliion for gender discrimination. The female pharmicist, Cynthia Haddad, claimed that she was being paid less than her male co-workers and was fired. The jury saw a connection and awarded Ms. Haddad $2Million for future lost wages. The jury discussed the matter for over eight hours prior to reaching a verdict. Haddad's attorney had this to say: "It sends a message that you can't treat people poorly because of who they are." WalMart states, in defense, that Haddad was fired because she allegedly left the pharmacy and released her computer access code to a technician. According to WalMart, prescriptions for Plavix were filed in her absense. When the company discovered that this was happening, Haddad was fired. Being that this is not the first gender discrimination lawsuit against the nation's largest retailer, I have little pity. WalMart needs to improve management and possibly hire an executive in charge of ethics. The company's image is already ruined because of unfair treatment to employees. WalMart has been featured on StreetBlabber from the start and no articles convey a positive image for the retailer. Take a look at competition: Target is hardly in the news for monopolization, discrimination, or any other ethical disputes. Why is WalMart suffering? Could it be that the company is too large to control? Starbucks should be featured in all WalMart stores because someone there needs to wake up and smell the coffee!
