CEO Spotlight: Steve Jobs The Visionary

It seems that everything becomes a success in the shadow of Steve Jobs. He is a respected icon here at StreetBlabber and I am proud to say that he has changed our world. One of the greatest CEOs deserves a spotlight for today's post. Steve Jobs-the co-founder and CEO of Apple Computer and previous CEO of Pixar until its merger with Disney. He is the largest shareholder of Disney and a member of the company's Board of Directors. Jobs is concidered an icon in computer and entertainment industries. Born in San Francisco, CA, Jobs was the son of two very well-educated parents. He himself attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon but later dropped out but continued several computer classes. After receiving his education in computer science, Jobs manufactored video games for Atari. In 1976, Steve Jobs helped popularize Apple Computer. He knew that this company will grow to change the world. Jobs introduced Apple Macintosh at an annual shareholder's meeting. the macintosh became the first successful computer with a graphical user interface. Jobs later experienced some conflict with Apple and sold all but one share and founded Next Computer. In 1996, Apple bought out Job's computer start-up for $402 million; Jobs had now returned. After directors lost confidence, Steve Jobs became CEO of Apple COmputer. He introduced iMac and other new products. Jobs had became a visionary and suggested powerful branding and appealing designs. Going back to 1986-Jobs bought out Pixar from LucasFilms for $10 million. Steve Jobs decided to contract the company with Disney to produce several computer-animated feature films. Under the agreement, Disney would co-finance and distribute the films. Toy Story was the first film to be produced by the partnership and brought fame to the studio. Over the next years, under Pixar's creative chief John Lasseter and Steve Jobs, the company produced the box office hits A Bug's Life, Monster's Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Cars. Meanwhile, Apple branched out into the entertainment industry with the introduction of the iPod, iTunes, and the latest iPhone and iTV. Job's management style is aggressive and demanding. Fortune noted that he "is considered one of Silicon Valley's leading egomaniacs." I will continue to laud Jobs for his leadership and ability to create success. He is currently in the pinnacle of his career and this raises the question of what's to come. He has definately come a long way and he proves that you don't need a high level college degree to make it in this world; its what you make of your education that will take you far. I always say that grades never matter once you enter "the world", its how you use what you have learned to create a success. Steve Jobs became an icon by working hard and he has made a lasting impact on the next generation.
