Windows Vista DEPRESSING Sales!

Microsoft (MSFT) introduced the long awaited Windows Vista; an upgraded computer software platform (placing Windows XP to rest). Microsoft and a few others have waited long enough and Vista was finally released earlier this year. Some expected this to be an "it" item and others like you and I knew for sure that this will not be popular. Many consumers are blinded to the fact that Microsoft has developed a brand new software and that XP was deleted. You can blame lack of advertising to this one... what promotions for Vista have you seen lately? Maybe they're just relying on publicity (StreetBlabber), but its apparently not working well enough. Is this a new strategy for Microsoft? If so... investors watch out! We've seen it happen to the Zune... a product we, here at StreetBlabber, actually had hope for. The Zune had advanced features and everything else you could ask for. The product was released without word... we did not receive the news either. Little advertising was launched and people just seemed un-interested. Much like Vista, consumers are puzzled. Do we really need another platform? Nope. I think Microsoft should have just waited until their technical staff could create new wonders to release the product. Sales are in fact depressing. Retailers such as BestBuy, Circuit City and CompUSA are seeing extremely low sales volumes for this new Vista... now they're stuck with extra inventory. However, Microsoft is making a profit. The company has many ties with PC companies, allowing them to easily create OEM licenses with large computer manufactorers. Dell and Hewlett Packard websites are selling Vista software and the numbers are meeting expectations. All major computer manufactorers (Dell, HP, Gateway, Sony, etc) are offering Windows Vista installed in all PC's. Meaning that if you recently purchased any PC, Vista is programed and is your official platform. The problem is... many people have computers. Loyal fans of Microsoft do exist; there were lines at BestBuy on the official launch date of Windows Vista.
