Could BP have Prevented the Shutdown of Prudhoe Bay?

As I was flipping through the Financial Times this afternoon, I stumbled upon this interesting story. It explained that several BP employees stated that the company portrayed the pipeline to be in better shape than it actually was. BP knowingly tested areas that were stable and avoided other random sections of the pipeline that apparently were damaged with leaks, breakage, and erosion. BP obviously denied the alligations. This damage costed the company $100 million in repair costs. BP and others are in a state of alarm now, being that half of Prudhoe Bay is still running. The whole field was originally meant to be shut down, but now its only the eastern portion. The western half generates 200,000 barrels of oil per day. Officials at U.S. Transportation say that this problem is not found in other competitors. I'm closed to words... it may be true Tell me what you think... leave a comment and blab on>
