AOL New Video Launch: YouTube FeVeR!

You Tube is currently the leader in the online video sector, with more than 100 million videos viewed per day. Others like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft can't find anything to do about it. But there's one little guy heating up the competition: AOL; launching AOL Video, which is a search engine. Its not an AOL-Only Video search system (although AOL results appear first and among the majority), the company has cut deals with others int he video sector such as Viacom. Other features allow users to create their own video content as well. This could possibly be the next big thing in search: VIDEO SEARCHING. AOL will also involve advertising, subscriptions and renting into its new product. AOL Video also goes beyong the desktop by allowing videos on cell phones and other handheld devices. I personally visited the site and thought WOW... what a great idea and way to maintain your presence AOL... after being downgraded and facing termination by its parent Time Warner. I like the idea of searching for videos across the web and not only on YouTube or iFilm. The only problem with AOL Video is the lack of results.. but its probably because they're just starting out. Leave a comment about what you thingk of AOL overall.
